Proverbs 4:20-22 – “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.”
Please take notice here that the Words of God are life for those who find them. If you want to receive life, healing, pretty much anything from the Lord, you will need to take time to find the words of Scripture that promise these results. We have given attention to the Word, when received and acted on, will produce the desired result. In this comprehensive passage, God tells us exactly how to attend to His Words. He says do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. In other words, instead of having your eyes on your symptoms and being occupied with them, let God’s Words not depart from your eyes. Look at them continually and then like Abraham, you will grow strong in faith by looking at the promises of God and nothing else. Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 2:13 that it is the Word which effectively works in those who believe. When we receive and obey the Word of God, we can say with Paul, “The Word of God works in me mightily”. When we attend to God’s Words and by keeping them in the midst of our hearts, the seed of the Word is in good ground, and according to the words of Jesus it will bring forth fruit. The Word of God becomes the power of God. It is spirit and life.
In the Master’s service. Many blessings.
